2017 Around the World Quilt: A Patchwork of Memories

By David & Anna Smith, Guest Lecturer & ATW Quilt Coordinator

With 36 guests participating during the 180-day Around the World voyage aboard Insignia this year, the colorful ATW quilts have been beautifully completed and raffled. This year, guests created more quilt blocks than expected so two quilts were created, one with 72 blocks and the other with 25 blocks. Each block represents a world port of call visited on the world voyage or life on board. About $2000 was raised in the raffle for the Around the World quilts and was donated to the Insignia crew welfare fund.

Around the World 2019 Insider Tips

President & CEO Bob Binder

With our Around the World 2019 journey opening for reservations today, I’ve been reflecting on my own world cruise experiences. It was 20 years ago that I first journeyed on an around the world cruise, a westbound route just like Insignia’s magnificent new route.

Q&A with Around the World Travelers

Hailing from Carmel, California, Oceania Cruises guests Charles and Janice Rauch set sail on our magnificent 2017 Around the World voyage last Friday. The couple has been sailing with Oceania Cruises for a few years now, and Janice told us that she had been dreaming of sailing around the world since she was 20 years old. They love to dance and kicked off their cruise with mimosas and dancing to the rhythms of a four-piece jazz band at the Around the World cruise reception. We caught up with them later in the afternoon on the patio of Insignia to find out how they prepared for such a big travel adventure, which destinations they’re most excited about and much more.

Around the World Quilt Project Completed

Around the World (ATW) quilters aboard Insignia’s 2016 Around the World in 180 Days cruise have reason to celebrate. Several months ago, guests aboard the world cruise began a monumental quilting project – and their ATW quilt creation, a stunning work of fabric arts, is now complete! About 36 ATW guests and entertainment staff – from beginners who have never sewed before to expert quilters – contributed a total of 72 blocks depicting destinations and activities during the 180-day adventure on Insignia. Each block was uniquely created on board using a wide variety of fabric techniques from simple embroidery sewing to elaborate fabric painting and applique stitching.

INSIGNIA RETURNS TO THE FLEET WITH A MULTIMILLION-DOLLAR MAKEOVER

An exciting and emotional day for the entire Oceania Cruises family, today we welcome our beloved Insignia back to the fleet. We are especially excited because her return from a two-year charter marks Oceania Cruises’ first season with a five-ship fleet. But that isn’t the only reason Insignia is generating such excitement. She arrived in Barcelona today with even more style, grace and elegance than ever before, fresh from a multimillion-dollar makeover.
